Session 2: Evidence, Decisions and Actionable Insight

Understanding demand, outcomes and cost in Adult Social Care.

Thursday 2nd July  |  10:30-12:00
Virtual Event on MS Teams

A space for honest conversation and shared learning

Most councils hold pieces of the information needed to make confident decisions about Adult Social Care. Bringing it together in a way that provides a clear picture of demand, outcomes and impact is often the challenge.

Questions councils are asking include:

  • How many people are likely to need support next year?
  • Which cohorts are driving demand?
  • Where should we target prevention activity?
  • What outcomes are people achieving?
  • How do we evidence impact and improvement?

At the close of our last Community Practice Network session, one theme came through clearly: councils want to talk about how information, evidence and insight can better support decision-making in practice.

This session will explore how councils are currently approaching these challenges, where the biggest visibility gaps remain, and what good looks like when evidence is genuinely helping shape services, resources and outcomes.

What you'll gain

The session will explore:

  • How councils are using evidence and insight to support decision-making today.
  • The information leaders most want at their fingertips - and why it can be difficult to access.
  • Common challenges around forecasting demand, understanding outcomes and evidencing impact.
  • Practical approaches being used across councils to improve visibility and confidence in decision-making.

You'll leave with fresh perspectives, practical ideas and insight from peers facing similar challenges across Adult Social Care.

How the session works

This is a small, discussion-led session designed to encourage open and practical conversation between local authorities.

  • Introductions: Meet fellow participants and share a brief snapshot of your current context.
  • Insight demonstration: A short demonstration exploring how councils can move from operational information to actionable insight, including examples of cohort visibility, forecasting and benchmarking.
  • Interactive discussion: Capture initial thoughts through shared prompts before moving into small-group discussions focused on real-world challenges and experiences.
  • Shared learning: Groups come back together to reflect on key themes, approaches and emerging insights from across the session.

Facilitated by Imosphere with a light touch, keeping the focus firmly on peer learning, discussion and practical insight, rather than presentations.
